Unfortunately due to an issue with the quality of the finish on the album sleeves, the elbow vinyl reissues due for release this week must be delayed. A new date for the release of ‘Asleep in the Back’, ‘Cast of Thousands’ and ‘Leaders of the Free World’, alongside a re-pressing of B sides collection ‘Dead in the Boot’, and ‘The Take Off and Landing of Everything’, will be announced when the problem is resolved to our satisfaction. We would like to apologise for the delay, but we are not prepared to accept a sub-standard product.
Today marks 25 years since the release of ‘Asleep in the Back’.
Originally released on 7th May 2001, elbow’s debut album introduced tracks including ‘Red’, ‘Newborn’, ‘Powder Blue’ and ‘Scattered Black and Whites’, and was later shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize.
To mark the anniversary, a selection of archive videos, live footage and clips from the long out-of-print ‘Asleep in the Back’ film are now being made available on the band’s official YouTube channel for the first time.
