Today marks 25 years since the release of ‘Asleep in the Back’.

Originally released on 7th May 2001, elbow’s debut album introduced tracks including ‘Red’, ‘Newborn’, ‘Powder Blue’ and ‘Scattered Black and Whites’, and was later shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize.

To mark the anniversary, a selection of archive videos, live footage and clips from the long out-of-print ‘Asleep in the Back’ film are now being made available on the band’s official YouTube channel for the first time.

elbow In Concert For Radio 2

elbow will be performing a special gig at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios for Radio 2 on Thursday 27th March.

A limited number of tickets are available for this intimate show – and they’re absolutely free. Just click here to register for the draw before 6pm this Thursday 13th March.

If you can’t be there in person, you’ll be able to watch live online at the BBC 2 website and on BBC Red Button television.

Plus you can listen to the band on the station throughout the day as they get ready for the evening’s show. They’ll be soundchecking in the morning with Ken Bruce, chatting to drivetime host Simon Mayo, and you can hear the full concert introduced by Jo Whiley from 8pm.

Guy and Pete will also be joining Jo Whiley to answer your questions on a live online Q&A on YouTube and the BBC 2 website.
